I think I always say this at this time of year but I cant believe its December already. In some ways this year has really flown by and in others there has really been a lot going on. Briefly looking back on 2006 I finished off summer in NZ and my internship at MED, had an awesome time lifeguarding on the side, meeting so many amazing people, pool parties, drinks after pay day like a grown up, BBQ's at our flat in Kelburn, living in a hallway, free summer concerts in the Bot Gardens and a week long road up to Big Day Out.
Got my final semester at uni over and done with between March and June and finally made it through my last three business papers while working 25 hours a week at Stats to save up for this trip so made good use of the all night computer labs. Living in a crazy place in Mt Vic but loved only being 10mins walk away from Courtney Place especially after a night out dancing. Even got in half a season of soccer with an amazing group of girls, participated in uni games and the Relay for Life. Got to see a heap of my closest mates graduate before going and went to a whole bunch of random parties right up until I left, culminating with 50 or so people joining me for all you can eat pancakes at Dennys to celebrate the start of this crazy adventure.
And here I am in London six months later, It's been a pretty wild ride to get here as you can see from my blog. Three weeks in Vancouver with Claire was a great way to start the trip, travelling down the West Coast partying it up, skydiving in Texas, Relaxing in Chicago and Michigan, hanging out with some crazy people in the hostel in Toronto, having a very wet but amazing experience in Niagara Falls, and making the most of my short time in DC and New York, and then over to London. Its all too exciting to write about in here so go back and have a look at my blog and pictures - take a walk down my memory lane!
Well since I last posted here there has actually been a lot going on in the past two weeks despite having to 'rest' for some of it coz I got shin splints in my right leg from being a little bit keen with the dancing and the gym. Managed to get to Akimatsuri (Autumn Festival) at the Japanese school, Checked out Camden and Portabello Markets, coloured in advent calenders at Scouts, had a few dinners with friends, checked out the Photographic Potrait Awards at the National Gallery, watched a live comedy filming at the BBC with Dawn French (aka the Vicar of Dibley as the famous guest) and danced the night away to an awesome covers band in a crazy Aussie pub. Things at the flat have changed a lot pretty quickly, we have two new flatmates and I will have a new roommate by the time I come back from my holiday. Im now in charge of bills etc so feel a bit grown-up but its still great to have social people to chill with and have a glass of wine at night.
And now Im ready to head off on a road trip tomorrow for 3 weeks. Will be in Poland for Christmas and will spend New Years in Berlin with a good mate from Japan - its gonna be amazing, will tell you all about it when I get back. Hope you all have a very merry christmas and the happiest of new years. Catch you in 2007!
