Heya, this is Melissa from NZ. I'm finally heading off on the OE I've wanted to do forever and really excited about it! Although I'll miss all my friends and family back home in NZ heaps I'm looking forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones on my tavels. So use this to keep track of me as I trot around the globe so I don't have to send massive emails this time. Keep in touch - kiwigirlnextdoor@yahoo.co.nz

Roller disco and birthday in Bath

Well - I finally made it to 23 - what a year being 22 has been; finishing off uni, backpacking through Canada and the States, getting around some of Europe and now making a life for myself in London (at least for the next 6 months) so I decided to celebrate by going to a Roller Disco part-ay! The moral of the story is dont drink and roller disco as I had a couple of spectacular falls but it was awesome. A bunch of us got together and hired roller skates and danced/tried to skate around the rink until the wee hours of the morning : )

Early the next morning, Paul and I were up and ready to go - after a full English breakie at the pub in Paddington station (people had already started on the Guiness!) we took the train to Bath. Arriving around lunchtime we had time to have a walk around the town, along the River Avon and check out the Royal Crescent and Circus before the last three games of the Six Nations were showing at the pub below our hostel.

7 pints each, 2 bowls of chips and 3 games of ruggers later we were ready to hit the town (but it was only 7pm so had another few quiets at Revolution). On our St Paddy's day out and about in Bath we met heaps of people - two Canadians, the Penn State Uni Girls Rugby team, a hens party and a girl called Ruth, a birthday party and a girl called Ruth, chatted to a couple of English birds and then a guy called Dai at the student Bar, challenged a group of uni girls to a game of Snooker, and finally met crazy Ed at Moles where we danced the night away. Great thing about travelling with my cousin is that he's so confident to just go up and start a random conversation - it meant we had a great time!

On the Sunday we figured we should actually do some of the touristy stuff we had come to Bath for, so wandered around the Roman Baths, checked out Bath Abbey and even had a 3 course lunch at Sally Lunn house - the oldest house in Bath and the place where Sally Lunn's were originally invented! It was a great day and we still managed to have time to chill in the pub in the afternoon!

Really enjoyed travelling with my cousin Paul, so much so that we're planning to head up to Edinburgh for 3 nights for Easter which should be a lot of fun. Thanks to everybody for making my 23rd birthday (and my first away from home) really memorable!
