Heya, this is Melissa from NZ. I'm finally heading off on the OE I've wanted to do forever and really excited about it! Although I'll miss all my friends and family back home in NZ heaps I'm looking forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones on my tavels. So use this to keep track of me as I trot around the globe so I don't have to send massive emails this time. Keep in touch - kiwigirlnextdoor@yahoo.co.nz

Last week in London (23-28 Oct)

Wanted to have a few days in London to tie a few things up after my Europe trip and before heading off to SE Asia - I have to admit it was kind of nice to arrive in London and know exactly where I was going, how the transport system worked etc. Managed to cross a few boring"must-do's" off my list like closing my bank account, checking wth the travel agent that everything is sorted, cancelling my phone, getting malaria tablets, numerous doctors and dentists appointments and getting some foreign monies etc - fun fun!

Got to do some touristy things I hadn't gotten around to in the past year like changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and of course caught up with a bunch of friends; had a pint at Pitcher and Piano with James, went with Sara and Duff to look at moving into a room at Cris and Hassan's place, one last cubs meeting and Ceroc class and even tried a hip hop one (just to keep me out of trouble!)

Went out for lasagne with Katia, Drinks with Dave at So-Bar and a hard rock night at Intrepid Fox. Had a few leaving drinks at Havana with some close mates (and a salsa class just for good measure), continued at Belushi's and ended up dancing to the classics at the Slug. Spent the last day wandering around Spitalfields market with Sara and Duff, nibbles at Leon and then lunch with Paul, Hayley and some other friends at Brick Lane.

Sick of goodbyes, I tube-d home, picked up my bag, bussed to Hammersmith and took the train out to Heathrow to take my flight to Bangkok. Ciao London, I promise I'll be back
